Dordt defeats Dakota State 88-57
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender men's basketball team never trailed in turning away Dakota State in a non-conference game played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the Pentagon on Wednesday night, November1. A 13-0 run extended the Dordt lead to 43-26 at halftime and the Defenders never led by less than 13 in the second half in winning 88-57.
Dordt battled through a sluggish first five minutes and led 7-0 after a pair of
Jackson Louscher free throws and a basket by the senior. Dordt extended the lead to 12-2 and it was 10 again at 15-5 before Dakota State got the gap down to 15-12 with 10:42 left in the half. Dakota State hung close and was within 26-24 with 5:41 left in to intermission when
Ben Fairclough converted basket and
Bryce Coppock followed with nine straight points.
A Louscher basket made it a 13-0 run for Dordt and the Defenders led by 17 at halftime.
Dordt's lead was 57-37 in the second half after a
Lucas Lorenzen three-point shot but a 7-0 run by the Trojans made it appear the game would be closer in the final 14 minutes. Coppock ended the threat with a basket and
Jake Hargens converted a dunk and threat was over and Dordt built the lead to 30 and was able to coast in for the win.

- Dordt was 35-66 from the field and 6-23 from the three-point line for 53 and 26 percent.
- Dakota State was 22-66 from the floor and 8-31 from long range for 33 and 26 percent.
- Dordt converted 12-18 free throws.

- Bryce Coppock led Dordt with 30 points on 12-17 shooting and he had nine rebounds and three assists with three steals.
- Lucas Lorenzen added 20 points and had five rebounds.
- Ty Van Essen came off the bench and scored 10 and had seven rebounds.
- Dakota State Leaders
- Ethan Slauthaag had a team high 16 points and Mison Colton had 13 with four rebounds.
Dordt is now 2-0 and Dakota State is 0-3.
