Volleyball and Track Commit | Fran Travis

(Friday, November 24; Sioux Center, Iowa) Fran Travis, a senior at Spirit Lake High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender women's volleyball and track and field programs.

"Fran is a rockstar. She loves volleyball and her work ethic, tied with her physicality and determination will make a big impact here. She had great blocking instincts and comes into college with a wide offensive range in the middle.  She's multi-talented and we are blessed that she is sharing her talents with us along with the track and field program. I am very excited for everything Fran will bring!" said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith

Travis is a 6-1 middle hitter and throws the shot and discus.  She totaled 437 total kills and had 263 blocks during her career for the Indians and has personal bests of 36-0 in the shot put and 130-1 in the discus.  She claimed all-conference honors for volleyball and is a three-time state qualifier in track and field and met the qualifying standard for the Drake Relays in 2023.

"I chose Dordt because the people I met on my initial visit and through volleyball and track were all so loving and welcoming. Most of all, every Defender I have met has found ways to glorify God in whatever talents he has given them. Dordt will help me grow academically, athletically and spiritually during the next four years," said Travis.

Fran is the daughter of Brad and Susan Travis of Spirit Lake, Iowa. She plans to study biology and psychology at Dordt.
