Northwestern defeats Dordt 7-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Northwestern Red Raiders made a first quarter touchdown stand up as they advanced in NAIA National Championship Playoff action by a 7-0 score.
Dordt's first possession resulted in a turnover on downs at the Northwestern 33 yard line, setting up the Raiders' scoring drive. On the possession Northwestern converted a third and long near midfield and scored on a third and 11 from the 12 yard line to finish the seven play, 67 yard drive.
From there the defenses took over with Dordt's offense getting an opportunity to tie the game late in the first half. The drive stalled inside the Northwestern five when a field goal try on fourth down failed as the snap slipped on the exchange. Dordt marched 62 yards on the drive on 14 plays.
Dordt had one more chance in the fourth quarter when it drove to the Northwestern two but was stopped on fourth and goal, ending the 10 play, 51 yard drive.
That drive ended at the 9:09 mark of the game. Â Dordt's remaining two drives both ended at midfield.
