(Tuesday, November 28; Sioux Center, Iowa) Megan Engelsma, a senior at Lynden Christian High School (Washington), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the cheer program.
"I am so very excited to have Megan joining our cheer program at Dordt next year! She is a very sweet girl with lots of cheer experience in multiple positions, and I am certain that she will be a great fit for our team next year! I am excited to see what she will all bring to our team!" said Dordt cheer coach Mel Knobloch.
Engelsma has done backing, side basing and flying for cheer and is a multi-sport athlete competing in soccer and tennis too.
"My dad and two of my siblings attended Dordt and I've heard great things about it," said Engelsma.
Megan is the daughter of Paige and Kevin Engelsma of Lynden, Washington. She plans to study nursing at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
