(Tuesday, November 28; Sioux Center, Iowa) Megan Courtright, a senior at Cherokee Washington High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and cross country programs.
"I am excited to welcome Megan to our program. She is an outstanding athlete and comes from a strong program at Cherokee Washington High School. She is a hardworking and talented runner who has the ability to impact both our cross country and track & field programs immediately. I look forward to working with Megan for the next four years!" said head cross country coach and assistant track & field coach Nate Wolf.
Courtright has personal bests of 19:55 on a 5,000 meter cross country course, 5:10 in the 1500 meters, 11:38 in the 3000 meters and 2:28 in the 800 meters. She's qualified twice for the state meet in track and field and is a three-time qualifier for the state cross country meet.
"I chose Dordt because it is a good distance from my hometown, the campus is beautiful, the accounting program is really good and the chapel and God-center values are awesome," said Courtright.
Megan is the daughter of Heidi Courtright of Cherokee, Iowa. She plans to study accounting.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
