Women's Soccer - GPAC Semifinal Preview

Game Time:
  • The Dordt University women's soccer team is set to make a return trip to Hastings, Neb. for a semifinal match against the 22nd-ranked Broncos in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) postseason tournament. Game time is set for 7pm on Lloyd Wilson Field. The winner advances to play in the GPAC Championship on Friday, November 10 at the highest remaining seed.
  • Dordt, the No.4 seed in the eight-team tournament bracket, is 11-5-2 overall. Hastings, the No.1 seed and GPAC regular season champion, is 16-1-2 overall.

A Look at the GPAC Tournament:
  • The 8-team postseason tournament began Thursday, Nov.2 with four quarterfinal matches with the four winners advancing to Tuesday's semifinal.

The 2023 GPAC championship match will be held on Friday, Nov.10 at the highest remaining seed. 

At Stake:
  •  The winner of the GPAC tournament will advance to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round as the league's second automatic representative. Hastings, the No.1 seed, has already secured the GPAC's first bid into the NAIA Championship by winning the regular season title. If the Broncos win the conference tournament as well, the GPAC runner-up (Concordia) will earn the second bid into the NAIA Championship. 
  • The NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship - Opening Round will be played at different host sites around the country on Nov.16-18. The 10 winners from the opening round brackets advance to play at the championship final site - Foley, Ala.
Tournament History:
  • Dordt has qualified for eight consecutive and 20 of 24 overall GPAC postseason tournaments (since the GPAC began in 2000). They hold a 12-19 overall record in the postseason and have made it to the conference title match four times, going 1-3 in the championship match (winning the title in 2008).
  • The Defenders earned their first postseason win since 2010 in last Thursday's quarterfinal match against Morningside.
