The Dordt Defenders played Nebraska to a 1-0 win this afternoon in the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center, Iowa. This win pushes the Defender's win streak to 11 games with five games left in the regular season.Â
It was a defensive battle today with only one goal scored between the two teams. Griffin Lennes put the Defenders up with 7:45 left in the 1st period. The Defenders found themselves shorthanded and trying to kill the penalty being served by Alex Espenson for roughing. The Defenders cleared the puck from their own zone and the Huskers were setting up their attack. Lennes successfully poke checked the puck and found himself with a a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie. Lennes took a touch to the far post and finished with the back hand that would prove to be the game winning goal.
The Huskers had a few chances late in the 3rd period but Graeme Edmund came up with multiple saves to keep the Huskers scoreless.Â
