DeVries Delivers For Come From Behind Win

Box Score The Dordt Defender baseball team plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh to win a 9-8 decision in game two of the day against York on Saturday, February 11 in games played in Omaha, Nebraska.

Logan DeVries had a bases loaded double to give the Defenders the final margin of victory in the seventh inning to cap a four run uprising.

Dordt also scored five in the second and led 5-1 at the time. York got two in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth to lead and 7-5.  A run in the sixth looked like an insurance run until the late inning dramatics.

Mike Bruell, Diego Benitez, Carlie Hennessy and Mason Price all pitched in relief with Price securing the win and he struck out two. The pitching staff allowed nine hits and five walks while striking out 13.

Dordt was outhit 9-8 but took advantage of four York errors.  Jason Carrig had Dordt's only multiple hit game with two singles and two runs scored. Logan Harris, Drew Oreskes and Logan De Vries all had doubles and Trevor Jackson had a three-run homerun.
