RECENTLY

Dordt beat York in three straight last week and the weekend included a 9-8 come from behind win as Logan De Vries delivered a bases loaded double to secure the victory. Chaz Gothard pitched four innings in the third game to help secure the win and allowed one hit. Nick Yeager struck out eight and gave up two hits in six and two-third innings in the game one win.

Central Christian played Sterling on Tuesday, February 14 and lost a scheduled nine inning game 3-2. Sterling scored one in the seventh to go up 3-1 and Central Christian got one back in the top of the eighth but came up short. Sterling outhit Central Christian 8-5 and utilized seven different pitchers. Eli Campbell and Justin Taylor each had two hits.

Southwestern was an 8-4 and 12-2 winner over Hastings on February 12. In the 12-2 win Dow pitched four innings and allowed two hits and Sides came on in relief and pitched a scoreless two innings. Both pitchers had five strikeouts. Penland was the only Southwestern player with multiple hits and he scored twice.

THE SERIES

Dordt and Southwestern haven't played since the 2017-18 school year and Dordt has a 2-1 series advantage over Central Christian since 2017-18. Dordt won the February 27, 2021 game 25-6 with Nick Hamilton collecting four hits and he had three runs batted in. Diego Benitez scattered nine hits in the pitching win and struck out seven.

Dordt will face Benedictine in a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25.
