Defender Volleyball Improves to 10-1

The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team ran its program best season record to 10-1 with a convincing 3-0 win over Central Christian in McPherson, Kansas on Saturday afternoon, February 25.

The Defenders swept the Tigers and kept them winless with a 25-12, 25-11, 25-10 afternoon. Dordt started set one with an 11-3 advantage and quickly pushed the lead to double digits with an Andres Guzman kill. The hosts were unable to make a run back at the Defenders and the Defenders closed the set with a block by Hendrick Vande Voort and Luke Nelson.

A four point run early in set two gave Dordt an 8-3 lead and the Defenders went on to grab a 16-6 lead as part of a 7-0 run as Dordt established an 18-6 advantage on the way to a 25-11 win. A 6-0 run to start set three effectively put the match away for the Defenders.

THE NUMBERS

  • Dordt had a 38-16 kills advantage and hit for a .516 kill efficiency.
  • Dordt had a 12-0 ace serves edge and nine points on blocks while Central Christian had none.
  • Brady Frost led the Defender effort at the net with eight kills.
  • Andres Guzman had seven kills and Luke Nelson and Dylan Kooiman each had five kills with Kooiman getting five block assists.
  • Lukas Van Groningen accounted for 25 assists.
  • Dordt is 6-1 in the GPAC and will host Jamestown, the conference leader, on Thursday night at 7:00.
