Dordt will face Montana Western in the Round of 16 at the NAIA National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa on Tuesday, March 14 at 8:00 pm. Dordt fans are encouraged to wear black for the Round of 16 contest.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

Dordt was a 76-63 winner over Iowa Wesleyan on Tuesday night, March 7 to advance to the second round. The Defenders were in control most of the game and enjoyed a 20 point lead most of the fourth quarter. The Defenders were 29-49 from the field and had a 37-24 rebounding edge while also converting 10-20 three-point shots. Hayden Heimensen scored 16 and made four three-point baskets while Karly Gustafson and Janie Schoonhoven each had 13 points. Bailey Beckman scored 12, all in the second half and Gustafson and Schoonhoven had seven and six rebounds a piece respectively. Macy Sievers came off the bench to score nine and had eight rebounds with six assists and two steals. Macey Nielson converted two three-point shots for six.

In the second round Dordt took the lead midway through the first quarter and controlled the rest of the game with an 82-66 victory over Mayville State, maintaining a double digit lead the entire fourth quarter. Karly Gustafson was the leading scorer with 24 points and Janie Schoonhoven and Macey Nielson each had 14 with Schoonhoven getting seven rebounds. Bailey Beckman accounted for 10 points and Macy Sievers had seen points, seven rebounds and six assists while Faith Van Holland had eight rebounds.  

Montana Western earned a couple wins in Park City, Kansas to advance to Sioux City. The Bulldogs started with a 79-48 win where they led 21-7 after one quarter and lead 40-22 at halftime. Shainy Mack and Jordan Sweeney each had 19 points and Brynley Fitzgerald had 14 points with eight rebounds. The next day the Bulldogs secured a four point win, holding off the Sterling Warriors 72-68. Sterling came from behind to lead 63-61 with just under four minutes remaining but Montana Western took a 64-63 lead with a three-point shot and Western held on to win by four. Fitgerald scored 26 with 11 rebounds and Jordan Sweeney had 17 Mesa King added 10 with eight rebounds.
