Marjama Picks Dordt Soccer

(Thursday, March 2; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ashlyn Marjama, a senior at Calvary Christian Academy (Florida) has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.  

"We are super excited to have Ashlyn join the Defender family. Ashlyn is a phenomenal athlete and will bring a great deal of experience and ability to our program. Getting to know Ashlyn though the recruiting process has be a joy and I know that she will represent Dordt exceptionally well both on and off the field," said Dordt soccer coach Alex Durbin

Marjama has scored 40 career goals and scored 28 the last two seasons combined. She was voted her team's most outstanding player the last two years and has served as team captain in three seasons.  She also played for the FC Prime ECNL/RL Club Team. 

"I know that I can thrive both academically and athletically in the Christ-centered atmosphere I found at Dordt," said Marjama.  

Ashlyn is the daughter of Mick and Kristen Marjama of Fort Lauderdale. Florida. She plans to study engineering at Dordt.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
