RECENTLY

The Dordt Defenders lost a wild 19-12 decision on April 4 to Briar Cliff. That was a part of a sweep by Briar Cliff as the Chargers took a 4-0 decision. Kaden Davis and Jason Carrig each had three hits with Davis also reaching twice on walks and he knocked in six runs with a pair of doubles and a homerun. Carrig knocked in two with a homerun and two singles. Dylan Stanley and Trevor Jackson each had two hits. Five different players pitched for Dordt with Diego Benitez getting five strikeouts.

Concordia split two doubleheaders last week and won a 10-1 decision on April 3 in Orange City after dropping game one of the doubleheader 5-2. Tanner Tompkins had three hits in the win and Jesse Garcia had two with three runs batted in. Garcia also had a homerun to go with a single. Caden Johnson won his fifth decision with six innings pitched and he struck out four with two walks.

THE SERIES

Dordt trails the series 12-2 since 2018 and the Bulldogs took four from Dordt last season with the closest decision a 3-2 verdict on April 21, 2022. Joey Granbanski had a homerun for Concordia in that win and Logan De Vries had one for Dordt. Gyeongju Kim went the distance for Dordt and absorbed the loss with eight strikeouts and two walks and Christian Gutierrez got the win with nine strikeouts and five hits given up.  The two pitchers combined to face just 49 batters in the seven inning contest.
