(Wednesday, April 5; Sioux Center, Iowa) Joey Schlesselman, a senior at Cupertino High School (California), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender baseball program.
Schlesselman batted .362 as a junior and at the midpoint of his senior season is batting .486 with a 5-0 pitching record in 28 innings pitched. Schlesselman is a three-year starter and has also served as a team captain.
"I chose to attend Dordt University because of the opportunity to play baseball in a strong Christian community," said Schlesselman.
Joey is the son of Joe Schlesselman and Helen Tao of Santa Clara, California. He plans to study finance at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
