Schaap To Play Basketball For Defenders

(Monday, May 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dylon Schaap, a senior at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.  

Schaap averaged 13 points per game and converted 39.7 percent of his three-point shots with four rebounds and 1.7 assists.  He was a first-team all-conference selection and also earned all-metro and academic all-state honors. Schaap is listed as a 6-6 forward.  

"I chose Dordt because I'm excited to continue my basketball and academic career at a Christian university. The coaches were very genuine and made me feel welcome. Dordt's engineering program also stood out to me as being one of the best," said Schaap.  

Dylon is the son of Ryan and Rachel Schaap of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. He plans to study engineering at Dordt.   

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
