(Monday, May 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dawson Rieck, a senior at Southwest Minnesota Christian High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
Rieck is a 6-4 guard who scored 978 career points and had 260 career assists. He averaged 17.6 points per game this season with 4.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He was an all-conference selection as a junior and senior and earned all-area team honors in 2023.
"I chose to attend Dordt because I know they will push me to be the best person/player I can be and love the Christian community it has," said Rieck.
Dawson is the son of Travis and Heather Rieck of Edgerton, Minnesota. He plans to study exercise science at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
