HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defenders pulled away from a 10-0 halftime lead to defeat Concordia 38-7 to improve to 3-0 this season heading into a bye week.

Dordt's first score came on the second play of the second quarter when Kolson Kruse completed a pass to Isaac Looker to the two-yard line and Kruse carried it around the edge on the next play for a 7-0 lead after the point after. The drive was set up by Abe Stoesz's interception at the Concordia 36-yard line.

Dordt's next possession was a 15 play, 44-yard drive that ended with a missed 47 yard field goal attempt. Concordia's drive went to the Dordt 10 and with a minute left in the half Dordt's Ian MacDonald dropped into coverage and intercepted a pass in the end zone and returned it to the Dordt 38-yard line. The Defenders engineered a drive that ended with Stephen Leinen converting a 40-yard field goal for a 10-0 halftime lead.

Concordia had the ball to start the second half but a sack by Drew Daum on fourth and six at the Dordt 33 ended the threat and Kruse capped the ensuing drive with a 23-yard run for a 17-0 lead with 9:33 left in the quarter.
