Baart to run cross country and track for the Defenders.

Levi Baart (Abbotsford, B.C.) has signed a letter of intent to attend Dordt University and join the Defender cross country and track and field programs.

Baart has competed five years for the Abbotsford Christian School cross country team and four years for the Abbotsford Christian track and field program heading into his final season this spring. Baart qualified for the provincial cross country championship four years and helped lead his team to a 14th place finish last fall. He is also a two-time provincial championship qualifier in track and field where he finished 12th in the Octathlon as a sophomore and 17th in the 400m hurdles as a junior.

"Levi is a dedicated athlete who loves to run," commented Dordt University Head Cross Country Coach Nate Wolf. "He has the ability and work ethic to impact our men's distance program.  I look forward to watching him train with the other guys on the team and the subsequent development in his races. He is a great fit for Dordt University and will be a strong member of the campus community. I am excited to work with Levi for the next four years."

Baart has personal bests of 1:02 in the 400m hurdles, 4:35 in the 1500m and a 9:48 in the 3000m. He plans to major in HHP and enter the pre-physical therapy program. Baart is the son of Adam and Jenine.

"I chose to attend Dordt because of the great campus life and the opportunity to compete in the sports that I am passionate about," stated Baart.
