(Thursday, December 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ana Veldkamp, a senior at Southwest Minnesota Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball and softball programs.
Veldkamp is averaging 17 points per game with four assists and four steals per game so far this season and was an all-conference pick in basketball the last two seasons. Veldkamp also was on the softball all-tournament team at the state tournament and had 11 hits at the 2023 state softball tournament.
"I chose to attend Dordt because I know Dordt will challenge me not only in athletics but academically and spiritually. I wanted to attend a university that meets all three of these criteria," said Veldkamp.
Ana is the daughter of Tricia Veldkamp of Edgerton, Minnesota. She plans to study business at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
