The Dordt Defender football team closed the 2024 regular season with a dominating win over Waldorf on Saturday, November 16. The Defenders wasted no time in taking a 33-0 lead and rolled to a 75-12 win over the Warriors in Sioux Center.

Dordt got on the board with a safety off a blocked punt that rolled through the end zone after Waldorf's first possession and the Defenders quickly added to the lead with a
Parker Beck touchdown off a lateral and the senior scored on a tackle eligible play to cap a six-play, 45 yard drive.
Nick Wellen scored the first of two touchdowns in as the Defenders took advantage of a short field for a 16-0 lead with 8:13 left in the first half and
Tyler Wieringa picked off a pass and returned it 32 yards for a 23-0 lead at the 7:58 mark of the period. Wellen's second touchdown, a six yard run, capped a five-play, 63 yard drive and
Stephen Leinen's 37 yard field goal ended the first period scoring for a 33-0 first quarter break lead.
Two more scores on runs by
Cody Boender and
Zach Riley of two and three yards each made a 47-0 halftime lead. After a Waldorf score the Defenders got two third-quarter scores on a
Konner Knauf pass from
Noah Strickfaden and Strickfaden had a nine-yard run for a 61-6 lead.
The Warriors scored early in the fourth and Dordt ended the game with an
Austin Wilson one-yard run and a
Keenan Valverde 51 yard return for 75-12 win.
Dordt matches its best regular season record with an 8-2 mark, matching the 2020 and 2023 seasons.
This is the second most points scored in a Dordt football game. The record is 77 in a November 13, 2021 win over Jamestown.
The Defenders are no. 16 in last week's coaches' poll and await the NAIA National Championship Series field announcement on Sunday, November 17. Morningside earns the automatic berth in the playoffs with the GPAC title.
