(Monday, November 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Derrick Nonhof, a senior at Kearney High School (Nebraska), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender baseball program.

"The addition of Derrick to our pitching staff gives us a left-handed arm that has proven he can throw strikes and get hitters out to this point. We are looking forward to having him and watching him develop throughout his time at Dordt," said Dordt baseball coach Ian Eshelman.

Nonhof pitched 47 innings this season with a 2.38 earned run average and struck out 31.

"I chose to attend Dordt because I was looking for a school that would allow me to set my future and career down a good path," said Nonhof.

Derrick is the son of Ben and Stacy Nonhof of Kearney, Nebraska and he plans to study biomedical engineering.
