(Tuesday, December 3; Sioux Center, Iowa) Morgan De La Pena, a senior at Stevens High School (South Dakota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the baseball program.  

De La Pena is a 5-11, 185 pound catcher who had a .421 batting average last season. He has also been a part of the Sliders Club based in Rapid City, South Dakota.  

"I chose Dordt not only to pursue my passion of baseball but to continue my journey with my faith," said Morgan.  

Morgan is the son of Lisa and Ryan De La Pena from Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota and he plans to study business administration.   

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).     

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
