(Wednesday; February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Carson Cooper, a senior at Boerne High School (Texas), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.
Cooper is 6-1, 155 pounds and has been the place kicker and punter for Boerne and was named the special teams player of the year in his district last season. He converted 97 percent of his point after kicks and all of his field goals while scoring 88 points.
"On my visit I greatly enjoyed the community. I feel that the players and coaches on the football team are on a mission to win a national championship and I want to be a part of that program," said Cooper.
Cooper will study business administration.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
