(Wednesday, February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Peyton Himmerick, a senior at New Prague High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Himmerick is a 6-1, 195 pound linebacker and had 38 solo tackles in 2023 with seven tackles for loss and three sacks.  He forced two fumbles and was named academic all-state and all-district honorable mention.  

"I chose to attend Dordt because of the amazing coaches and players and God-centered atmosphere and the opportunity to play the sport I love," said Himmerick.  

Peyton is the son of Jennifer and Brent Himmerick of Lonsdale, Minnesota. He plans to study actuarial science

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
