Football Commit | Tyler Hughes

(Wednesday, February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Tyler Hughes, a senior at Central Valley Christian High School (California), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Hughes is a 5-10, 280 pound offensive lineman and started 55 varsity games and earned first-team all-conference honors twice and conference lineman of the year honors once. Hughes was part of two Valley Championship teams and a state title team.   

"I love the community—it's very similar community at my current school. I also really love the football coaches and the upward trajectory of the program," said Hughes.  

Tyler is the son of Mason and Krista Hughes of Visalia, California. He plans to study health and human performance

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
