Softball Loses 3-1 Decision To Kansas Wesleyan

Kansas Wesleyan defeats Dordt 3-1

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender softball team lost a 3-1 decision to Kansas Wesleyan to open the 2024 season. The Defenders allowed a two run sixth inning that unlocked a 1-1 tie and the Defenders were unable to respond and lost the game played at the ASB Sports Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Brooke Rule homered for the Defenders in the first inning by Kansas Wesleyan scored a run in the second inning to tie the game.

The teams went scoreless until the sixth when two-out single unlocked the tie in favor of the Coyotes. Dordt missed on a scoring opportunity in the fifth inning when the Defenders loaded the bases but an infield fly followed by a runner getting thrown out on a sacrifice fly attempt for the third out of the inning.

THE NUMBERS
  • Both teams had five hits and Dordt committed two errors.
  • Karli Olsen and Brooke Rule had a double and homerun respectively for Dordt's extra base hits.
  • Alexa Kopaska pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs with five hits, two strikeouts and three walks.
