(Wednesday, February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Cole Johnson, a senior at Lutheran High School (Colorado), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Johnson is a 6-0, 180 pound running back and linebacker and had 71 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, with three forced fumbles, and one interception.  Johnson ran for 539 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023.    

"I chose Dordt because of the great culture and community within the football program and school," said Johnson.  

Cole is the son of Meredith and Derek Johnson of Parker, Colorado.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
