(Wednesday, February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Mitchell Schnepf, a senior at Marcus Meriden Cleghorn Remsen Union, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Schnepf is listed 6-5, 295 pounds and played defensive and offensive lineman for the Royals.  He recorded 47.5 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss while earning second-team all-state honors along with first-team all-district honors.  Schnepf also earned academic all-district honors and was twice an all-district honorable mention honoree.   

"I chose Dordt because I feel it is on an upward trend in every sport and I want to be a part of that and I also love the hands-on agriculture classes," said Schnepf.  

Mitchell is the son of Matt and Angie Schnepf of Le Mars, Iowa. He plans to study agriculture business.   

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
