(Wednesday, February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Tabor Tyson, a senior at Central Texas Christian High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.
Tyson was a running back, wide receiver and defensive back. He ran for 2,867 yards in 2023 and caught passes for 180 yards and returned kicks for 248 yards. Tyson scored 35 rushing touchdowns and had 38 total touchdowns in 2023 and was a first-team all-state selection and earned district most valuable player honors.
"I chose to attend Dordt because I want to attend a small Christian college to grow my relationship with God and I want to be a part of a successful football program," said Tyson.
Tabor is the son of Coby and Rory Tyson of Georgetown, Texas.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
