HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender basketball team battled from behind its entire game with Northwestern on Saturday, February 24 and lost a 96-85 decision to finish the regular season.
Northwestern scored the first 11 points of the game and led 27-11 at the 13:14 mark.
Connor Millikan scored a couple free throws for the Defenders to start a 10-0 run to get within 27-21 at the 9:57 mark as
Luke Rankin capped the run with a three-point shot and layup.
After a timeout the Raiders outscored Dordt 14-5 for a 19-point lead and the hosts settled for a 45-28 halftime lead. Northwestern maintained the lead and actually extended it to 72-51 with 8:41 remaining in the game. Dordt put together a charge to cut the lead to 79-71 as Millikan converted a three-point basket at the 4:34 mark but six Northwestern points in a row ended the threat and the hosts concluded with the 96-85 win.

- Dordt converted 32-67 field goals and 11-30 three-point shots with 10-12 success from the free throw line.
- Northwestern was 34-69 from the field and 15-34 from the arc and the Raiders converted 13-18 free throws.
