Women's Basketball Stopped In Regular Season Finale

HOW IT HAPPENED

A 10-0 by Northwestern early in the second quarter helped send the Dordt Defenders to their first loss of the conference season on the final day of the regular season.

Dordt led 17-11 after a Gracie Schoonhoven basket with 1:38 left in the first quarter but the Raiders responded with five in a row to make it 17-16 entering the second period. Dordt got a couple  Bailey Beckman free throws to start  the second period and Schoonhoven converted another  basket for a 21-16 Dordt lead.

Northwestern scored 10 unanswered points for a 26-21 lead over the next minute and a half and Northwestern extended the lead to 43-28 at halftime.

Dordt never got closer than 12 the rest of the game and lost by the eventual 15-point margin.

  • Dordt was limited to 20-53 shooting and 5-13 from the three-point line. Dordt was 18-21 from the free throw line.
  • Northwestern converted 31-69 field goals and 8-19 three-point shots.   Northwestern also made 11-15 free throws.
