HOW IT HAPPENED
Morningside was a 3-0 winner over Dordt in the semifinal round of the GPAC Men's Volleyball Postseason Tournament on Friday, April 19 hosted at Jamestown, North Dakota.
The Defenders struggled to control play trailing 4-1 at the outset of set one. The Mustangs stretched the lead to 14-7 and eventually 21-12 before Dordt went on an 8-1 really to get withing 22-20 on a
Nicodemus Elliott kill. A service error stopped the threat and the Mustangs went on to win 25-21.
Dordt trailed 7-1 in set two before tying the set 8-8 with back to back Morningside attack errors providing the final two points of a three-point run to tie it. The Mustangs scored nine of the next 11 points to take a substantial lead and allowed the Defenders to get as close as two points twice in winning 25-20. The Defenders never led in set three as the Mustangs pulled away for the 25-14 win and a spot in the GPAC finals on Saturday against number one seed Jamestown.
COACH CHAD HANSON SAID
We played a really flat match at a really bad time in the season against a Morningside team that was determined to succeed. Though this match ends our season it is not reflective of the growth we attained through out the season. This team has been really enjoyable to coach a we're sad to season teh season come to a close.
