(Thursday, April 25; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dustin Hoksbergen, a senior at Trinity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
"Dustin has scored quite a few points in his career and has gotten a lot stronger over the last couple of years. We look forward to his development as a man of faith and as a basketball player," said Dordt men's basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.
Hoksbergen was an all-conference first-team selection this season after averaging 19.8 points per game along with 6.7 rebounds per game. Hoksbergen became the second Trinity Christian basketball player to surpass 1,000 career points this season.
"Since I was a kid I have always come to Dordt games and loved the atmosphere. I have always wanted to compete and perform in the De Witt Gym," said Hoksbergen.
Dustin is the son of Craig and Heather Hoksbergen of Hull, Iowa. He plans to study agribusiness at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
