(Wednesday, April 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) Rylan Veenstra, a senior at Edmonton Christian High School (Alberta), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender hockey program.  

"We are extremely excited to add Rylan to our hockey program. He stood out to us right away through the recruiting process and he has impressed us in every interaction we have ad with him. Rylan is going to be a great addition right away for us and Defender Nation is going to love watching him play," said Dordt hockey coach Tyler Morgan

Veenstra is a center and scored 25 goals with 22 assists in 28 games played. He has played for the Maple Leafs Athletics Club.  

"I chose Dordt because I get to grow further in my faith, build great relationships with people around me and I get to comete in the sport I love," said Veenstra.  

Rylan is the son of Jason and Andrea Veenstra of Edmonton, Alberta. He plans to study Business Administration at Dordt.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
