(Monday, June 10; Sioux Center, Iowa) Kai Chapman, a graduate of Surrey Christian High School (British Columbia), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.
"Kai will bring a strong six-rotation skill set to our program this coming year. His high level of ability has been made possible by the great coaching he has received from his dad Gary Chapman, Sean Engbers, and Nathan Hyashi. Kai is a great fit for our campus community because of his desire to grow in the Lord and live out The Defender Way." said men's volleyball coach Chad Hanson.
Chapman is a 6-4 outside and opposite hitter who earned all-tournament honors five times during his junior and senior seasons and was a South Fraser Zone Championship Most Valuable Player as a senior. He has also competed for the Seaside Volleyball Club.
"I chose Dordt because I grew up in a small Christian school and really appreciated the community. I am excited to experience American sports culture and grow in my faith," said Chapman.
Kai is the son of Louise and Gary Chapman of Surrey, British Columbia. He plans to study education.
