Baseball | 2024-25 Recruit Class Announced

(Wednesday, June 19; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender baseball program has announced the recruit class for 2024-25.

Michael Armstrong is a pitcher and had 42 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched. Michael is the son of Michael and Jennifer Armstrong of Argyle, Texas. He plans to enter the pre-chiropractic program at Dordt. 

Luke Arndorfer is a senior at Grain Valley High School (Missouri) and he played catcher, first base and third base and batted .420 last season.  Arndorfer is the son of Paul and Julie Arndorfer of Grain Valley, Missouri. He plans to study business and enter the pre-law program.  

Shimonte Bain graduated from Inspiration Academy (Florida) and is a second baseman. He plans to study mechanical engineering at Dordt and is the son of Holly and Dean Bain of Bradenton, Florida.  

Javen Baumgarn is a senior at Harris Lake Park High School (Iowa) where he had six wins in the last two seasons with 94 innings pitched and 114 strikeouts. Baumgarn earned second-team all-conference honors in 2023.  Javen is the son of Jason and Julie Baumgarn of Lake Park, Iowa. He plans to study agriculture at Dordt University.  

Jared Bennett attended Concord High School (California) where he pitched and was an all-league second team pick along with claiming scholar-athlete honors.  Jared is the son of Alexandra Zapata and Jeremy Bennett of Concord, California. He plans to study engineering at Dordt. 

Braeden Biggar is a student at Prairie State College (Illinois) and graduated from Christ The King High School (California).  Biggar batted .298 with 13 stolen bases and 13 extra base hits while earning Skyway All-Conference honors along with academic all-region honors at Prairie State and he plans to study engineering.

Talan Brown is a senior at Tolar High School (Texas) where he played shortstop and pitcher with 78 innings pitched and a 1.02 earned run average.  Talan is the son of Karen Brown of Granbury, Texas. He plans to study health and human performance at Dordt.  

James Collier attended Cornerstone Christian School (Texas) and he played first and third base during his career and also played for the Trosky Southwest Club program. He plans to study criminal justice and  is the son of James and Alicia Collier of San Antonio, Texas.  

Chisum Demmers is a student at Antelope Valley College (California) where he was a catcher.  He's the son of Paul and Darlene Demmers of Firebaugh, California. 

Nathan Elbracht is a senior at Pullman High School (Washington) and is a pitcher who also played for the Palouse Patriots.  Nathan is the son of Jeff and Jill Elbracht of Pullman, Washington. He plans to study education at Dordt.  

Kyan Emmelkamp is a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa) where he pitched 51 innings in 2023 and had a 2.47 earned run average with 51 strikeouts.  He was named all-conference first team at the end of the season. Kyan is the son of Barry and Erin Emmelkamp of Alton, Iowa. He plans to study criminal justice.  

Parker Fisher graduated from Tavares High School (Florida) where he had a .280 batting average with a .500 on base percentage last season and he played catcher.  Fisher is the son of Jody Fisher of Tavares, Florida and plans to study business.   

JT Fitzgibbons is a senior at Meeker High School (Colorado) where he played first and third base along with shortstop and he has pitched. He batted .373 in 2023 with 25 hits, 16 runs scored and 23 runs batted in. He also struck out 68 batters and earned honorable mention all-state honors pitching and was the Western Slope 2A All-Conference Pitcher.  JT is the son of Keith and Cindy Fitzgibbons of Meeker, Colorado.  He plans to study engineering technology and business. 

Cameron Grimes is a senior at Fort Zumwalt West High School (Missouri) and is a middle infielder who also played for USA Prime Missouri. Cameron is the son of Christopher and Christy Grimes of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri and he plans to study economics at Dordt.  

Ben Hoffman is a senior at Indianola High School (Iowa) and is a third baseman and outfielder. He is the son of Scott and Kaycee Hoffman of Indianola, Iowa and he plans to enter the pre-architecture program. 

Carter Horton graduated from Delavan-Darien High School (Wisconsin) and had a .329 career batting average and a 4.2 earned run average on the mound.  He's the son of Josh and Jenny Horton of Delavan, Wisconsin and he plans to enter the pre-physical therapy program. 

Dylan Huddle is a Ralston Valley High School (Colorado) graduate and is currently a student at McCook Community College (Nebraska). Huddle is a pitcher who was 3-1 in 18 innings pitched as a high school senior in 2022.  He appeared out of the bullpen at Oregon Tech in 2023 and struck out seven batters in 12 innings pitched.  

Zach Houy played for Marion High School (Iowa) and is a lefthanded pitcher. He plans to study civil engineering and is the son of Mark and Susan Houy of Marion, Iowa.  

DJ Kerr is a senior at Linfield Christian High School (California) where he was a corner infielder and pitcher.  He's 15-1 on the mound during his career with a 2.69 earned run average and he has a .287 batting average with 33 hits and 29 runs batted in. Kerr helped his team to the semifinal round of the CIF Championship. DJ is the son of Kim and Nick Kerr of Lake Elsinore, California. He plans to study criminal justice at Dordt.

David Koolhaas is a senior at Ripon Christian High School (California) where he batted .290 with 25 runs batted in for. He plans to study criminal justice at Dordt and is the son of David and Shelly of Ripon, California.  

Andrew Langner is a graduate of Harrisburg High School (South Dakota) and  is a catcher and first baseman and he also played for the Harrisburg Baseball Association.  Andrew is the son of Luke and Tara Langner of Harrisburg, South Dakota. He plans to study agriculture. 

Jesse Manuel graduated from Charles Page High School (Oklahoma). Jesse is the son of Kim and John Manuel of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and he plans to study mechanical engineering at Dordt.  

Jonas Morrison graduated from Atwater Cosmos Grove-City High School (Minnesota) and had 19 hits last season with 11 runs batted in and a .311 batting average. He's helped his high school team to a state tournament berth and played on two state-qualifying legion teams. Morrison has played outfield, first base and pitcher. Jonas is the son of Megan and David Morrison of Atwater, Minnesota. He plans to study engineering. 

Jaxson Nesvara is a senior at Grand Island Senior High School (Nebraska) and is an outfielder who posted a .330 batting average last summer with 33 hits, 16 runs batted in and 26 runs scored.  He was a 2023 Summer Legion All Star Game selection and a 2022 Summer Legion State Runner-Up.  Jaxson is the son of Nicki and Jeff Nesvara of Grand Island, Nebraska. He plans to study education at Dordt.  

Liam Norman is a student at Ecole Secondaire Catholique Algonquin (Ontario) and is a righthanded pitcher.  Liam is the son of Alanna and Don Norman of North Bay, Ontario. He plans to study engineering technology at Dordt.  

Dakota Ross-Glines is a senior at Grain Valley High School (Missouri) and is a righthanded pitcher who also played for the 643KC Club. He plans to study engineering at Dordt and is the son of Jeremy and Tricia Ross-Glines of Grain Valley, Missouri. 

Logan Templeton is a senior at Bakersfield Christian High School (California) where he batted .302 last season with 11 doubles, three homeruns and 27 runs batted in. He was a part of a Valley Championship team and helped Bakersfield Christian to a state championship berth.  Logan is the son of Amie and Chuck Templeton of Bakersfield, California. He plans to study business at Dordt.  

Jimmy Twombley attended Valley Christian High School (Arizona) and was a second baseman and outfielder and plays for the Mesa Oaks Club as well.  Jimmy is the son of Jim and Sheila Twombley of Chandler, Arizona.  He plans to study engineering at Dordt. 

Davis Utech is a senior at Lynnville-Sully (Iowa) and also played catcher for the Gamers club team.  He's a three-time South Iowa Cedar League All-Academic team honoree and he's claimed a Burlsworth Award too.  Davis is the son of Kevin and Allison Utech of Grinnell, Iowa and he plans to study education at Dordt.
