The Dordt Defender football team used four turnovers in the first half and scored on nine of their 11 possessions on the way to a 58-0 win over the Hastings Broncos in GPAC play on Saturday, September 21 in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Dordt took advantage of a Hastings backwards pass that wasn't recovered by the Broncos and marched 75 yards on 11 plays to take a 7-0 lead on the first of three
Brendan Pieper runs. Dordt faced third and long early in the drive and was able to convert to keep the drive going.
Pieper went six yards on the next drive for a score as the Defenders got possession near midfield on a
Matt Bomgaars interception. A
Stephen Leinen field goal from 24 yards away capped the first quarter scoring.
The Defenders scored three touchdowns in the second quarter with
Carter Quiring taking a reverse from eight yards and Pieper scored his last touchdown on a 27 yard run near the midpoint of the quarter to finish a 68 yard drive.
Nick Wellen got into the action with a two yard run to finish a 74 yard drive and sent the game to halftime with Dordt leading 38-0.
Dordt converted on its first drive of the second half to extend the lead to 45-0 with
Eliot Beal coming down with a 17 yard pass from
Kolson Kruse and Kruse plunged in from six yards away for a 51-0 lead at the 10:48 mark.Â
Preston McCoy capped the scoring with the catch of a deflected pass with 3:16 remaining for the 58-0 win.
