The Dordt University women's golf team concluded play at the two-day, Virginia McCoy Fall Invite held the last two days at a pair of courses in the Kansas City, Mo. area.
The Defenders carded a 341 in Tuesday's final round, a 26-stroke improvement from Monday's first round, and finished seventh overall. Dordt shot a 36-hole total of 708, two strokes in back of Evangel (Mo.) and seven shots from a top-five finish.
Mount Mercy (Iowa), the leader after round one, held on to win the 36-hole event with a 317 in today's final round for a two-day total of 647. Park (Mo.) was second with a 663 (338/325) with Baker (Kan.) coming in third with a 678 (343/335).
Jillian Eidsness fired an 81 (+11) in today's final round, tied for the 10th best score of the day, for a 36-hole total of 174 (93/81). The senior moved up nine spots in the standings to finish tied for 19th place with her Defenders teammate,
Ashlee Sweeter, who closed with an 85 today after a first round score of 89.
Hope Faber carded a final round 87 and finished tied for 27th with a 36-hole total of 179 (92/87) while
Katherine Beekman shot a final round 88 and placed tied for 29th overall (93/88).
Ollie Large was the fifth Dordt golfer and placed 44th with a 211 (105/106).
Mount Mercy's Chiara Bothe won the individual title with a 149 (76/73), six shots in front of Catherine Rhoads (Evangel) with a 155.
