The Dordt University women's golf team moved up one spot on the final day of the Kaitlyn Erickson / Doane Invite. The two-day, 36-hole meet was held the last two days at two different courses, Wilderness Ridge (par 71) and Pioneers Golf Club (par 71).
In seventh place after Monday's opening round, the Defenders shot a 336 today to move up into sixth place in the final standings. It marked a 42-stroke improvement from round one. Dordt finished 18 strokes behind Mount Marty (696) and a spot in the top five.
Doane pulled away from the field with a tournament-low 306 today to claim the team title with a 36-hole total of 638, 31 shots ahead of Hastings (669). College of Saint Mary and a second Doane team tied for third with a 683.
Ashlee Sweeter was the top Defender golfer, finishing in a four-way tie for 10th place with a career-best 36-hole total of 169. Sweeter, who carded an 86 on Monday, improved by three strokes with an 83 in today's round.
Jillian Eidsness gave the Defenders a second golfer among the top 20, placing tied for 17th with a 172. The senior closed the tournament with an 85.
Hope Faber shot a career-low 82 and moved up 15 spots in the final standings to place 31st with a 36-hole total of 183 (101/82).
Katherine Beekman inked an 86 in today's final round and moved up 10 spots to 41st with a 190 (104/86).
Ollie Large completes the Defenders scoring five with a two-day total of 202, carding a 94 today.
Two Defenders,
Samantha Wilbur and
Laney Franken, played as individuals and finished T36th and T38th, respectively. Wilbur closed with a 91 in today's round for a two-day total of 187 while Franken shot a career-best 89 and matched her best 36-hole score of 189 (also at the Lila Frommelt last fall).
First-round leader Connie Jarm (Doane) held on to claim the individual medalist honors, five strokes ahead of her Doane teammate Kaitlyn Dumler with a 159.

- Dordt will have one more tune-up meet, the Mustang Invite, prior to the GPAC Championship on April 27-28
- all seven Defender golfers shot a better score today compared to Monday's first round
- Sweeter has now shot in the 80's in 11 consecutive rounds and in 12 rounds overall
- Sweeter's 169 is a career-low score for 36 holes; her 10th place finish matches her career best
- Eidsness has shot in the 80's in five consecutive 18-hole rounds; this was her 15th overall round of 89 or better this season and her eighth top 20 finish
- Faber's 82 was a career-best 18-hole score; this was her fifth round in the 80's this season
- Beekman's 86 today was her low round of the spring
- Franken's 89 was a career best, as was her 38th place finish; the 36-hole total of 189 matched her career-best
