The Dordt Defender hockey team ran its' winning streak to 10 with a 7-4 winr over Drury on Friday night in a game where the visitors led 4-2 going into the third period.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nick Espenson scored a goal for Dordt in just over eight minutes into the game off assists from
Rylan Veenstra and
Zach Espenson but Drury scored the next two, getting a goal in with 9:46 left in the game and again with 5:32 left in the period. Dordt evened the game at 2-2 with Espenson getting his second goal off assists from Veenstra and
Reuben Horneman.
Drury controlled play in the second period, getting goals in the seventh and 15
th minutes to lead 4-2 at the second intermission.
The break was good for the Defenders as
Tegan Doelman scored with 18:11 left and
Isaac Baart got the equalizer with an assist by
Mason Carrels and
Mike Torlina. With the momentum building,
Veenstra scored on an assist by
Nick Espenson and Horneman and Doelman extended the lead with goals at the 5:53 and 3:33 mark.
Dordt had a 54-27 shots on goal advantage with
Isaiah Van Noord and
Tim Nanson splitting the goaltending duties. Van Noord had 16 saves in 35:48 played and Nanson played the final 24:12 and made seven saves.
