Defenders Earn Road Point in GPAC Clash with Concordia

The Dordt University women's soccer team secured a valuable point on the road Saturday afternoon, drawing 1-1 with Concordia in a tightly contested GPAC match at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Neb.

Dordt struck first in the 41st minute when Karinna Tel notched her 21st goal of the season. Tel's strike gave the Defenders a 1-0 lead heading into halftime, capping off a competitive first half in which both Dordt and Concordia totaled six shots.

Concordia outshot Dordt 10-0 and finally broke through in the 84th minute. Taylor Slaymaker found space in the box and delivered the equalizer for the Bulldogs, her second goal of the season.

Despite the second-half pressure, Dordt goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra delivered a standout performance, making seven saves to keep the Defenders in the match. Zylstra's efforts were crucial in the final minutes as Concordia pushed for a winner.

The draw moves Dordt to 8-5-3 overall and 6-2-2 in GPAC play, while Concordia sits at 11-1-5 overall and 6-1-3 in the conference.
