Dordt University's women's soccer team saw its postseason run end in the GPAC Championship match, dropping a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Hastings (Neb.) at Lloyd Wilson Field.
The match remained scoreless through 75 minutes as both defenses held firm. Dordt created early pressure with four first-half corner kicks and eight total shots, but couldn't find the finishing touch.
Hastings broke through in the 78th minute when Payton Tanner scored off a feed from Jesse Chartier, giving the Broncos the decisive goal.
Karinna Tel paced Dordt with four shot attempts, while Megan Aukes and Maria Zylstra each added one. Goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra recorded four saves, including two in the second half to keep the Defenders within striking distance.
Dordt closes the season at 11-6-3, marking its second GPAC Championship appearance in three years. Hastings improves to 15-3-3 and wins its second consecutive GPAC title.Â
