Dordt opened with steady early offense and held a 14–12 lead before Mount Marty answered with a 12–2 run that shifted momentum and created a 24–16 deficit. The Defenders responded well, piecing together a 10–3 stretch sparked by interior scoring and timely passing to pull within 32–28. But the Lancers closed the half strong, using a 10–5 push to take a 42–35 lead into the break. Dordt's first-half execution kept the game within reach.
Mount Marty seized full control with a 14–4 run to open the second half, rapidly extending the margin to 56–39 as Mount Marty took control. Dordt found small bursts—highlighted by baskets from
