A trio of players from the Dordt University women's soccer team received additional postseason honors as the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its annual Academic All-District teams for the 2025 season.
Three Defenders,
Joslyn Terpstra,
Lydia Zylstra and
Maria Zylstra, all earned the postseason honor; this is the second consecutive year that Terpstra claimed the honor.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To qualify for a CSC Academic All-District honor, student-athletes must meet a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, be a sophomore or above both academically and athletically, and have a significant role on their team, typically starting at least two-thirds or playing in 90% of the team's games.Â
Terpstra, now a two-time Academic All-District selection, played in 17 matches with 14 starts as a forward for the Defenders. The junior from Pella, Iowa, totaled 11 points, with three goals scored to go with five assists while earning all-conference accolades for the third consecutive year. A three-year starter, Terpstra has netted 23 goals with 29 assists for her career and is a Nursing major.
Lydia Zylstra started every match in goal and played a team-high 1767 minutes for the Defenders this season. Zylstra ranked fourth in the GPAC with 105 saves and allowed 1.17 goals per match, fourth best in the conference. The senior from Pella, Iowa, recorded eight shutouts this fall and finished her Defenders career with a 21-8-4 overall record. Zylstra earned both all-conference and NAIA Scholar Athlete honors. She is studying Biomedical Science and Psychology.
Maria Zylstra earned second team all-conference honors with a team-leading 10 assists to go with six goals scored in her second season with the Defenders. The sophomore from Sheboygan, Wis. played in all 20 matches with 15 starts and ranked sixth on the team in minutes played (1,273). She registered her first two-goal match in the Defenders' win against Briar Cliff (Oct.15) and had a career-best three assists in the win against Bethel (Kan.) on August 30. Zylstra was named GPAC Player of the Week on October 20 and earns the academic honor for the first time. Zylstra is a Kinesiology major with an emphasis on Biomedical Science and Psychology.
Dordt completed the 2025 season with an 11-6-3 record.
