A 54-point second half pushed the Dordt Defender men's basketball team to its 21
st win of the season in a 91-79 road win over Hastings on Saturday, February 1.

Dordt scored on its first four possessions and led 8-2 when Hastings used its first timeout. The hosts rallied to tie the game 10-10 and took their first lead at 13-12. Hastings felt in control of the rest of the half, extending the lead to 38-31 before
Bryce Coppock made a basket to slow the run. The lead went back to eight, the final time at 45-37 before a pair of
Lucas Lorenzen free throws with no time on the clock made the halftime score 45-39.
Hastings held a pair of nine-point leads early in the second half, the last time at 52-43 with 17:00 remaining. A 6-0 run capped by a Lorenzen three-point basket made a game of it and
Connor Millikan's three after a Hastings two-point bucket got Dordt within 54-52. Hastings had a momentary answer and went up by six but
Ben Fairclough and Lorenzen combined for five points and Coppock's free throw and basket with 11:01 remaining gave Dordt its first lead since the early minutes of the game.
Millikan scored the next seven points for the Defenders but Dordt couldn't shake the hosts and Hastings tied the game at 73-73 on a stepback three-point shot at the 5:26 mark. Dordt scored 12 of the next 13 points over the next three minutes and Hastings got no closer than eight before falling 90-79.
Dordt is 21-2 overall and 13-2 in the conference.
Hastings is 3-18 overall and 2-12 in the GPAC.
Dordt will host Hastings and Midland this Wednesday and Saturday.
