The Dordt Defender men's basketball team needed overtime but used a 9-0 run to start the extra session to win a 99-93 decision on the road over the Doane Tigers. Dordt improved to 24-2 overall and 16-2 in the GPAC with the road win.

Dordt had a 19-13 lead after a
Jake Proctor three-point shot but Doane answered and the two teams swapped the lead back and forth nine times over the final eight minutes of the half and Doane had a 40-39 halftime edge.
Doane led by as many as five in the second half but Dordt used an 10-0 run to go from down 67-65 with 7:43 left to up 75-67 on a
Ben Fairclough basket off an assist from
Bryce Coppock at the 5:46 mark. Doane made up the difference just as quickly and tied it on free throws at the 4:02 mark and the teams weren't separated by more than two the rest of regulation. Dordt needed a
Connor Millikan layup at the 1:39 mark to tie it and had a shot at the horn by
Lucas Lorenzen that rimmed out to win.
Lorenzen made a basket in the paint to start the overtime and Millikan followed with a three to start a 9-0 run. Doane rallied again but they would get only as close as 96-93 with :14 left and Coppock made 3-4 free throws in the final moments to secure the six-point win.
Dordt has a two-game lead in league play with two games to go with a 16-2 mark. Dordt will host Morningside on Wednesday night, February 19 before traveling to Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, February 22.
