The Defender ice hockey team defeated the Maryville Saints on a 7-0 decision in the Maryville Hockey Center on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dordt started hot as Noah Wilmes scored just 22 seconds into the game, assisted by Connor Raiche. That would prove to be the game winner as Dordt would shutout the Saints. Dordt added to their lead after Maosn Carrels scored, assisted by Isaac Baart. Noah Wilmes scored the third goal of the period and his second of the period to make the score 3-0. Wilmes was assisted by Levi Loken. Dordt took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

Dordt added another to their lead after Luke Kester scored, assisted by Noah Wilmes. Rylan Veenstra scored an unassisted goal to make the score 5-0.

Isaac Baart marked his return to action with a goal of his own, assisted by Zach Espenson. 

After multiple game misconducts, the Defenders had a five on three power play for the remainder of the game and Isaac Baart netted his second of the game assisted by Reuben Horneman to secure a 7-0 win and advance to the MACHA championship.

Isaiah Van Noord secured 38 saves.

Dordt will play Missouri State in the MACHA Championship on Monday Febraury 24.
