(Thursday, March 27; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2024-25 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and academically, have been announced and the 2025 NAIA National Champion Dordt Defenders have three players on the list.
Macy Sievers (Junior; Storm Lake, Iowa),
Janie Van Donge (Senior; Hospers, Iowa) and
Willow Bleeker (Sophomore; Sioux Center, Iowa) are on the list. Sievers is a repeat selection for the honor.
Sievers is studying education and has a 3.83 grade point average. Sievers recently completed a season where she was named first-team all-GPAC and was named to the NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team and was the Championship MVP for a second straight year as Dordt successfully defended the 2024 National Championship with the program's second national title earlier this week. Sievers averaged 15.6 points per game this season with 7.6 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. She has scored over 1,000 career points and is the career leader in assists at Dordt.
Van Donge will graduate after majoring in exercise science and she was named first-team all-GPAC this season and was named to the NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team and earned the Hustle Award for the second straight year. Van Donge led the team in scoring with a 16.3 points per game average and took in 10.2 rebounds per game while converting 56.5 percent of her field goal attempts. Van Donge graduates from the Dordt program as the career leader in rebounds and she is fourth all-time in scoring.
Bleeker averaged 8.9 points per game for the Defenders in her sophomore season and she earned honorable mention honors from the GPAC at the conclusion of the year. Bleeker converted a single season record 94 three-point shots this season and converted 44.3 percent of her three-point field goals.
Sievers and Van Donge will now be on the ballot for CSC Academic All-American honors with that announcement coming in April.
To be eligible for these honors an athlete must be at least a sophomore, maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and appear in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start 66 percent of the program's games.
