(Friday, April 25; Sioux Center, Iowa) Sophie Bakker, a senior at DeMotte Christian High School (Indiana), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

Honors & Highlights:   Three-time, all-conference selection and three-time academic all-conference selection. Earned academic all-state honors as a senior. Holds the record for career three-point shots made, the single game made three-point record and  single game points record with 38. Scored 1,205 career points with 677 rebounds.
 
Why Dordt: "I chose Dordt because I could tell that the coaches not only create an atmosphere and environment where you can become a better basketball player, they also create one where you can further strengthen your relationship with Christ. It is a special thing to be surrounded by people who love the same sport and are working to serve the same God! For these reasons, God made it pretty clear that I should be at Dordt."
