The Dordt University men's soccer team fell 4-1 to Saint Ambrose on Saturday afternoon at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex in the Defenders final tune-up match before the beginning of conference play.
The Defenders (2-2-2) entered halftime tied 1-1 after
Stephen Schreurs netted his first collegiate goal in the 44th minute, capitalizing on a long setup pass from
Pedro Menezes. Dordt's equalizer came just 11 minutes after Saint Ambrose opened the scoring with a goal from Jake Pollock, assisted by Jrn Reck.
The second half, however, belonged to the Fighting Bees (6-1), who scored three unanswered goals in a 3-minute span. Josh Simon converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute, followed by a goal from Jrn Reck off a double assist from Pollock and Simon. Pollock added his second of the match in the 61st minute to seal the win.

- Joseba Zabala led the Defenders with two shots on-goal; four players totaled one shot on-goal each
- Shad Jaeger (2-1-1) stopped five Saint Ambrose shots

- this was the first career assist for Menezes
